Hello all.

Does anyone know if Asashoryu has obtained Japanese citizenship?  I have
heard that this is necessary for yokozuna status, but I don't remember
anyone on the list mentioning that he had obtained it.

No, citizenship is not a requirement for yokozuna status. Only for becoming an oyakata.
