My impression from the article is that as an Osaka born, he wants to either 
have a new start or the final curtain in Osaka.
First dohyo, new juryo and first time sanyaku took place in Osaka.
And he still feels he has the power left to get that 4 wins as a top 
makushita to come back to juryo.

He also has obtained an oyakata-kabu, which would guarantee to him and his 
family a decent income as an oyakata, about 800 000 yen a month, but choses 
for the time being to live on 150 000 yen for two months, getting rice sent 
from somewhere. A juryo rikishi gets somewhat more than one million yen 
basic salary a month and has other types of income as well.
