Hello,

It is good to hear from more sumo fans accross the
world.  I must say that I'm a bit shocked as to the
number of people appearing on this list.  Maybe that's
because everyone I know besides one of my friends
thinks I'm crazy for even liking sumo at all.  I'd
wager to say that you'd be hard-pressed to find maybe
ten more fans in the Los Angeles area--including the
Japanese American residents...although, someone must
be buying the copies of Baseball Magazine Co.'s _Sumo_
before I get a chance. (grr)

Anyway, I have a question about Sumyabazar.  From what
I understand, to become avarga ("titan;" the grand
champion), you must win against 9 opponents two years
in a row in the national Naadam festival right?  But
if you win 9 in a row, then you become arslan, don't
you?  I believe Sumyabazar is still a zaan, which
means he hasn't yet won a Naadam festival.

So then, can Sumyabazar be promoted to avarga this
year?  I really don't understand the rules, maybe. 
He's 30 years old, too.  Isn't that a little old to be
a wrestler?
