West Side Wins In Tokyo Spring Wrestling Games
By a margin of 19 points, the West Side of the Tokyo wrestlers beat the
East Side aggregation in the spring matches, which were finished on February
4, the score being 98-79. The highest individual point-winner of the West
Side was Genjiyama, champion, who won nine games, losing one game against
Asogadake. On the last day of the matches, he wrestled a draw match with
Tochigi, champion of the opposing camp, who is the highest point-winner of
his camp, and who has a record identical with that of Genjiyama. Tochigi
lost one game to Kiyosegawa on the sixth day. No wrestler has won all of his
matches in the spring tournament of this year.
At the close of the games on February 4, Genjiyama received the victory
banner, on behalf of the West Side.
Genjiyama, Super-Champion
Genjiyama became a super-champion, as the result of his individual
record during the spring wrestling, it became known, when a new official
list of the ranks of Tokyo wrestlers was announced, on February 5.
Genjiyama is 33 years old and began his career in professional wrestling
in 1911. He became a champion last year. He stands a little over six feet
high and weighs 250 pounds.
Tachihikari was promoted to the rank of champion. He is 27 years of age,
stands 5 feet 5 inches in height and weighs 250 pounds.
