[Non-Sumo] Phrase for New Year's Mail?

Totally Non-Sumo question:

I'm getting my Christmas Cards out, and wanted to get the cards to my Japanese friends in the New Year's mail. What's the phrase that needs to be written on the envelope? Can this even be done for mail coming from overseas? 

(When I lived in Japan, I just dropped it in the appropriately labeled mailbox and didn't worry about it).
