[GAMES] Sekitori-Toto Hatsu 2003 Banzuke & Kyushu Medals Presentation
And here is the Hatsu 2003 Sekitori-Toto Banzuke! Fortunately, this time there
actually were a few make-koshi in the upper ranks, which made banzuke-making a lot
easier :) It was almost like making a "real" torikumi-based competition banzuke!
We have a new number one in Sekitori-Toto: Sashimaru only missed Ozeki promotion
by a hair with 12-3 (one more win, or the Yusho would have probably moved the
committee to grant him the prestigious rank), and as such, takes over the Sekiwake
East spot from Yubiquitoyama, another failed Ozeki candidate, who had a record of
9-6. Sashimaru is now in a position where a mere 10-5 record next basho may well
earn him Ozeki rank consideration after all. There are three other candidates for
promotion next time, but Hamamiharu and Getayukata would have to score a 14-1,
while Yubiquitoyama would even need a 15-0! So, Sashimaru is obviously the best
prospect.
Since dominant Yusho winner Daninowaka was ranked in Makushita, he makes a BIG
jump forward to Juryo 7 East. The numerous Jun-Yusho winners at 12-3 also all
make good moves forward.
Several intai this basho were offset by a surprisingly huge number of rookies, led
by Rookie of the Basho and Jun-Yusho winner Chikarayama of Switzerland, who
debuts at Makushita 13 West on the Banzuke. All in all, the Sekitori-Toto Banzuke
now ranks 150 Patrons, which makes it the second-most frequented game of the Super
Banzuke rotation (surpassed only by the classic Hoshitori Contest). Thank you all
for your overwhelming support! :)

Also, at http://www.anasuya.com/toto/medals.html you can now behold the official
Medals Presentations... with one particular face all over the place, namely
Daninowaka's, who won the Yusho and two Sansho! On this page, you will also find
the breakdown of all the "minor" Sansho which were awarded this Kyushu Basho...
check it out, you might be one of the recipients! :)
Til next time!
Cheers,
Zenjimoto
