All Japan Amateur Yokozuna

Just a reminder for anyone in Tokyo or willing to go there, that the All 
Japan Amateur Yokozuna competition will be held from 11:00 this Sunday (8th
December ) in the Kokugikan.

This is the top amateur award since it includes champions from high school,
college and the corporate leagues.  It is a knock out tournament with a very
high level of competition and well worth seeing.

Last year it was won by Miyoshi of Kinki University now Asamiyoshi.

Previous winners include:

Izumi Uchida 2000 - now 4th year Nihon Daigaku student going for his last
chance at an amateur title before (almost certainly) entering the pros.

Takahisa Osanai 1999 Former World Heavyweight Champion from Aomori
(corporate league)

Seiken Kato 1998  now Takamisakari

Koji Tamiya 1997 / 1996 now Kotomitsuki

Akihiro Kiku 1995 / 1993 now coaching in Kagoshima (corporate league)
