RE: Banzuke-gai
1: According to the following link, Kotokobayashi is not retired:
http://www.sumo.or.jp/meikan/rikishidata/rikishi2.php?A=2443
When the wrestlers retire, the site administrator puts a big (INTAI)
above their name like this:
http://www.sumo.or.jp/meikan/rikishidata/rikishi2.php?A=1173
Of course, none of the latest basho retirees have had the INTAI added
yet. Can you show me where Kotokobayashi is listed as retired?
2. Azumaiwa and Toshu retired after the Aki 2002 basho. I think
Kuwahara (if it is the Izutsu-beya one) changed his shikona to
Kakutoriki.
I am not sure when the other ones retired. Are you keeping a data base
of wrestlers like I am?

Thanks for the list. Can you clarify 2 things:
1) The NSK site shows Kotokobayashi as retired, but I never saw him on
any
of the retirement lists. If he is retired, when did he turn in his
papers?
2) There are 6 wrestlers I saw fall off the banzuke, but never heard
when
they retired:
Azumaiwa
Toshu
Ishida
Kototakada
Kuwahara
Hatano
If anyone knows when they retired, I'd appreciate it.
