Local favorite Kotomitsuki won his first Ozumo Ooza
Ketteisen ("King of the Ozumo Championship")
championship held at the Nagoya Sogo Taiikukan on
October 6. Kotomitsuki picked up the 2 Million Yen
prize.

Kotomitsuki defeated Takanowaka to win his Block and
then proceeded to win against the other two Block
winners, Asashoryu and Miyabiyama.

Yokozuna Takanohana participated in the championship
for the first time in four years and promptly was
beaten by Takanowaka in the first round. Prior to
the championship Takanohana said he was hoping to
repeat his performance four years ago when he won it.

"I feel great. This place is big and I really feel
it's worthwhile to go out there and do the best I
can," said Takanohana.

However after his loss, his tsukebitos quickly
surrounded him telling reporters he would not be
answering any more questions today. He left without
making any further comment.
