My encounter with Clyde Newton

Hi all-
Well, I finally "spoke" to Clyde during the last basho. Actually, I had to
chase him down, since my friends pointed him out and he started to leave.
This was EXTREMELY frustrating, to say the least.

Without recounting the confrontation - and believe me, that's what it was -
word for word, let me say that it was quite one-sided, with me demanding
answers, or Clyde answering with lame, vague excuses - "I was overwhelmed",
"I'm tired", "it's too expensive" - when he DID answer me instead of looking
at me like I had three heads. I demanded to know about the subscribers not
receiving their issues as opposed to the shops receiving theirs, the fact
that WE should get ours first - NO RESPONSE. The poor quality of the
magazine - "it's expensive". Why not let the subscribers know, or respond to
emails about what is going on with this - "I'm just overwhelmed. It's too
much." Why is the website still soliciting subscriptions - "Oh, really? It
s not supposed to be." Dave (Kawika) has to bear the brunt of a lot of this
and has been trying to assuage us - NO ANSWER. Do you know you've been
reported to NHK, the Kyokai, and the International Internet Fraud Bureau -
SHRUG. Why don't you give it up if you can't handle it, this is a business
after all - NO RESPONSE. And so on...

Needless to say, my blood pressure kept rising and my face was getting more
and more flushed as my voice kept rising, until I had to turn around and
walk away. Meanwhile, he continued to take pictures on his digi-camera. I
guess he thought I could do no more or say no more to him.

To add fuel to the fire, he had the GALL to take pix of Daishi's danpatsu
shiki while standing about a foot away from me. I took his photo,
surreptitiously, and if anyone is interested, I can post it on a page.

To sum it up, the only "resolution" was NONE, except for my own severe
frustration at the inconsideration of this person for the loyal subscribers,
some of whom who have every single issue, except this year's, since the
magazine's inception.

What a pity.
