Several days into the basho Swamp Eels team member Gteayukata asked me if
she should not enter anymore.  She had qualified and was high up, in second
or third place.  I said, heck no, full speed ahead!  I, too, thought about
sitting out the final day for a sure victory, but had to take my own advice
and go all out.  It's a game and what fun would it be sitting it out?
Reminds me of Ted Williams in 1941.  With a baseball doubleheader on the
last day of the season, he was hitting .400 even.  His manager wanted to sit
him down.  Ted said no way and played the doubleheader, going 5-8 and ended
up hitting .406.  I agree with that spirit (and proved by losing that I'm no
Ted Williams.) :-)  But I would rather have played and lost than sat out and
won.
