What you're looking for is an "Open MRI" machine, which doesn't
fully enclose the patient. They're well suited to "people of size",
sumotori or not.  These machines weem to be reasonably common, at
least in the US & Canada.  There's a local provider advertising
their Open MRI machines on the radio here in Seattle.

Check out http://www.hitachimed.com/openmri for some info and 
pictures. This site has an option to search for systems near you. 
There are other manufacturers as well.
