Court rejects Futagoyama's ex-wife restraining order demand

TOKYO The Tokyo District Court on Monday rejected a request for a 
restraining order filed by Noriko Fujita, the former wife of sumo 
stablemaster Futagoyama, to prevent reporters of Kodansha Ltd's photo 
magazine Friday from coming within 50 meters of her in order to protect her 
privacy.

The Friday reporters followed her from Futagoyama's stable to Tokyo's 
Shibuya Ward on Jan. 15 last year, where she was shopping, and published 
pictures of her without permission in the magazine's February 2 edition, 
violating her right of portrait, according to the ruling. But the court 
ordered the publisher to pay her 1.65 million yen in compensation against 
her demand of 11 million yen. (Kyodo News)
