on this day: 1988
This is the second case that I've come across with Futahaguro being on TV
post leaving sumo. There was a case on March 13th 1988 in whcih he made a
guest appearance on a home video show called Kosakin. The same day had
photos of his hair cutting ceremony.

Anyone remember seeing these programs? Wonder if they are available out
there somewhere?

Hokutoumi Likely To Sit Out Nagoya Basho
Yokozuna Hokutoumi, who had to withdraw from the final day sumo of the
summer tourney in May due to a hip joint and back pain, is likely to sit out
the upcoming Nagoya Grand Sumo Tournament as he still remains hospitalized.
The scrappy grand champion hurt his hip and back during warm-up exercises in
his dressing room on the 14th day (May 21) in preparation for an afternoon
bout against Ozeki Asashifuji. He entered a hospital the following day for
treatment.
While the initial diagnosis was that the injury would take three weeks to
heal, Hokutoumi is still recovering and is unable to practice.
The 15 day Nagoya tournament starts July 3 at the Aichi Prefectural
Gymnasium.
