Donation By Wrestlers

Akinoumi, Dewaminato and Kasagiyama, representing the sumo wrestlers of the 
West team which won the recent summer sumo tourney, donated Y1,500 each to 
the War and Navy Offices on Saturday morning, June 6. In making the 
donation, a banquet in celebration of the victory was canceled in view of 
the emergency.

Grand Sumo Meet Takes Place At Bali

BALI - A grand sumo wrestling tournament with the purpose of introducing the 
national sport of Nippon to the Indonesians was recently staged by the husky 
soldiers of the Kanemura contingent now stationed on this island.
    Much of the surprise, the spirit and excitement of the sumo matches 
greatly appealed to the rajahs and county chiefs of eight provinces of Bali, 
who were the honored guests. The y shouted with amazement on seeing Nippon 
sumo for the first time.
