Re: [non-Sumo] Soccer Hooligans?

Hi all,

I thought this was a 'funny' article in the Daily Yomiuri (page 9-10
"Beware the Soccer Hooligans") today. Here are a few quotes
concerning the expected rowdy fans.

1. A lady said, " I have no interest in soccer, but I'm worried sick
about hooligans. I'm thinking about retreating from Tokyo to my
parents' house in the hinterlands."

2. Another comment from a local assemblyman in Miyagi prefecture.
It seems he is worried about foreigners selling cocain and heroin,
burning parked cars and paralyzing traffic systems.

3. An LDP party member,Takayoshi Konno says, " We must also brace
ourselves against unwanted babies being conceived by foreigners who
rape our women. Clearly we must prepare for the worst."

I have lived in Japan for more than 13 years, married to a Japanese
girl for more than 30 years, and am still amazed at the ignorance of
some of the people here in this country. I was truely amazed when I
read this article today.
