Rikishi Talk - Day 6
====================

Wakanosato
I think it was pretty bad from the start. I almost
lost it. I guess I won mainly because I was able to
get the uwate.

Tosanoumi
I thought I was doing well as I was moving forward.
Perhaps I got too far way.

Kyokutenho (on winning against a local favorite
Kotomitsuki and getting his fourth straight win)
There was so much cheering at the end, I felt good to
get the win.

Chiyotaikai (on getting a close win)
I thought about my opponent too much. But I can flow
over to my own sumo style from any position. I
probably think because I am in a good condition. I
want to show a good sumo so people can say I am doing
it for all those rikishis who withdrew from this basho
as well.

Kokonoe Oyakata (on Chiyotaikai)
Well right now he may be the closest figure to
Yokozuna. But I am a sort of worried that he may start
showing the lack of training prior to the basho.

Buyuzan (on his first loss)
He evaded my tachiai hit somehow and I lost my
momentum. Yeah I am a bit upset.

Tokitsusmi (on beating Buyuzan)
I hope I can make this as a trigger. I think I am
getting better.

Akinoshima (on accomplishing 1,200th Makuuchi
appearence today)
When I got injured, instead of getting discouraged or
depressed, I've trained harder on my weak areas.
Unfortunately you don't see any improvement in my
sumo.

Musashimaru (on calmly winning against Kotonowaka)
He sometimes pulls down so I went in watching him
carefully. That's the reason for my slow tachiai
today. He is heavy but I think he is easier to handle.

Takatoriki (on getting his first win)
I am going up there thinking as if I have no pain from
my injury. I feel like I am in the right middle of
the Senshuraku of my sumo life. I know I will need to
retire sometime but I will do my best for this 15
days.
(expressing his decision to retire if he falls to
Makushita)

Asashoryu (prior to the bout against Takamisakari)
I'd just forget about myself today. I just heard my
older brother lost his big yokozuna match in Mongolia
today. I am more upset than when I lost. The thing is
it's only held once a year and he loses it to the same
guy. I'd need to get this all out on the dohyo.

Takamisakari (on looking over a red spot on his neck
where he got slapped hard by Asashoryu)
I'd take this as a promissory "tegata"...(sounding
pretty mysterious before disppearing)

Takanonami (on his win against Aminishiki)
I lost to him by a "soto-gake" last basho.
So this time I remembered the bout before I gave him
"shakings" (with a "kote").

(Asked about his powerful moves)
What are you talking about ?
My sumo turns out to be like that because I am not
strong.
I need to become more powerful... (then started
laughing loud).
There was a pressure to always win while I was an
Ozeki but I don't have that anymore. I can face the
bouts relaxed.

(On his consequetive wins this basho) Hey, there is
nothing sexy about gettting 10 or so consequetive
wins. But if I get 12, listen, you'd see me turning
blue all over (now everyone is laughing loud).

West Maegashira Tochisakae, Kasugano Beya
Tochisakae became the 12th sekitori to withdraw from
this basho on Day 7. His opponent Oikari got a
fusensho.

Tochisakae submitted a medical diagnosis that he was
suffering from a phelemon on his left calf and
other unspecified liver ailments that requre about a
week of hospitalization.
