Up-and-comers

> From my file (still missing Aki and Kyu 1997 - anyone???), I have made a
quick list of some Rikishi who have a potential future collecting a salary
and tossing some salt. This list is FAR from exhaustive. I am attempting
to focus on the more "green" rikishi who have not been around that long, yet
have made a decent impression (Makushita and above or a division yusho).
Some you have heard of, others - perhaps not. I will list only my Makushita
and below potentials. I assume the others meeting my criteria are already
getting paid and well known:

Listed in Makushita:

Takamisakari (Azumazeki-beya). Most of you know all about him already
Komidori (OH NO MATZ-beya). Small little guy some of you probably are
aware of due to his one stint in Juryo.
Raido (Takadagawa-beya). From the stable without an Ichi-mon. He has moved
steadily up since his Jonokuchi crown in 1996.
Iwakiyama (Oitekaze-beya). Oft injured ex-collegiate Rikishi, Sandanme
yusho. (He should have considering he was Tsukedashi).
Kasugao (Kasugayama-beya). Korean wrestler. Tachiai difficulties.
Tama'asuka (Kataonami-beya). Youngster - Makushita in his teens. I like
the Shikona - all of you know what Asuka is, right?
Tashiro (Tamanoi-beya). Tochiazuma's school buddy and now Tsukebito.
Jonokuchi and Jonidan yusho.
Hokutoiwa (Hakkaku-beya). Former tsukedashi, Sandanme experience. Same
hatsudohyo as Buyuzan and Tamarikido. Late bloom?
Daishodai (Oitekaze-beya). Jonokuchi and Jonidan yusho. "Stolen" from
Tomozuna-beya with Hayateumi when heya was established.
Sadanoshima (Nakadachi-beya). "Stolen" from Dewanoumi-beya when heya was
established.
Tanaka (Tomozuna-beya). Former Daishoyama left him at Tomozuna-beya when he
raided it for Daishodai and Hayateumi. Why?
Asasekiryu (WakaMATZ-beya). A second Asashoryu? Jonidan Yusho.
Aoba (Ajigawa-beya). Jonokuchi yusho. Oft injured.

Listed in Sandanme:

Hokutoarashi (Hakkaku-beya). Oft injured.
Yamauchi (Musashigawa-beya). Makushita-tsukedashi with Jonidan experience.
Not following Miyabiyama's career path.
Kumai (OH NO MATZ-beya). What is his injury Toshiyori Masumiriki??? Where
is this guy? ZERO wins in 2001.
Haguronada (Takekuma-beya). Taken with his brother when his father
established Takekuma-beya. INJURIES. Own home page!
Akinosato (Michinoku-beya). Taken when Tatsutagawa-beya closed. Injury
prone. (Actually all my Sandanme are so far, hmmm..)
Tamao (Kataonami-beya). Another teenager.
Midorifuji (OH NO MATZ-beya). Abe-san, what is his injury. Seems OH NO
MATZ has trouble - Ohnomiya retired recently too!
Tenpozan (Musashigawa-beya). Just what we need, another Musashigawa
Sekitori.
Wakasuruga (OH NO MATZ-beya). Well, at least he has not sat out with an
injury lately. Will be Makushita next tournament.
Chiyohakuho (Kokonoe-beya). Former Kakitane. I live Kaki no Tane
appetizers, if he is half as good as they are...
Surugatsukasa (Irumagawa-beya). Suruga... Difficult kanji for those of you
interested in that thing. Oft injured.
Ohminami (OH NO MATZ-beya). Perhaps I have an infatuation with this stable?
Why does it have such promising youngsters?
HOCHIYAMA (Nakadachi-beya). My adopted Rikishi. Jonokuchi winner. Lost in
playoff to that damnable Wakakairiki for Jonidan!
Muranaka (Mihogaseki-beya). Another proud parent's son. Was off the
banzuke due to injury. Jonokuchi yusho.
Wakakairiki (Hanakago-beya). Oft injured. Put the moves on my boy.
Tamatsurugi (Tamanoi-beya). One of the few non-Azuma's in this stable. Off
banzuke causing injuries. Hot in 2001!
Hakuba (Michinoku-beya). Mongolian. Son of another adoptee. Jonidan yusho
winner. Could he have caused Hoshiandesu to retire?
Takamaru (Asahiyama-beya). Another son of the sumo list. Jonidan yusho
winner. But not too impressive w-l record.
Ama (Ajigawa-beya). Jonokuchi yusho. Coming up the banzuke fast.
Mongolian.
Daishoma (Oitekaze-beya). Who can go wrong with the Great Pegasus? Subject
of a sumo list jinx last tournament.

Listed in Jonokuchi:

Satsukiumi (Nakadachi-beya). Threatening sounding name. Satsu ki. Master
of the hisatsu waza?
Tochihidaka (Kasugano-beya). Former Jonidan champ. Oft injured. From
Hokkaido.
Miyamoto (Musashigawa-beya). Jonokuchi champ.
Kitamura (Hanaregoma-beya). Jonidan champ. Looks to be a quick riser!
Murata (Azumazeki-beya). No telling how far he will go under Akebono's
guidance. Jonokuchi champ. So far undefeated in his career.
