Present sekitori as amateurs

I haven`t found any records on amateur sumo world champinship-competitions
before 1996. Also it is a bit hard to recognize the present
sekitori-rikishi since they naturally didn`t compete under shikona but
their own name back then. I know Hamanishiki was a world champion and
Kotomitsuki was either gold medalist or silver. Takamisakari has also
participated in international amateur sumo tournaments but what about
other present sekitori-rikishi?

Anybody has these kind of records at hand?

My question is in simplicity:

Which present sekitori-rikishi have background in international amateur
sumo and how did they perform then? and also in which weight class?
(for example Hamanishiki was a middle-weight then)

There will be world championship contest in October I think and it is in
Japan. I wonder if the best Japanese amateur wrestlers usually
participate in these or do they concentrate on Japan`s university sumo?

Are there amateurs with tremendous (exceptional) potential and who would
have great prospects in ozumo career, should they decide to pursue one?
