Re: Not So Sumo: Mr. & Mrs. Futagoyama Oyakata

Having Okamisan is not a requirement to keep a heya.
Ms. Noriko Hanada has withdrawn herself from Okamisan duty since last year
and she was not in front of Futagoyama-Beya to congratulate Yokozuna Takanohana
when he won yusho both January and May this year, which has been a common
scene for Futagoyama-Beya.

Since withdrew herself from Okamisan duty, she has been active in participating
TV shows and writing a book.

When an Oyakata loses or does not have Okamisan, or his wife is not capable for
Okamisan duty, he hires a "personal manager" to do chores for him. Okamisan
are not employed nor payed by Sumo Kyokai. It's a "volunteer worker" for the
owner of heya, so to speak. And it's near 24 hours a day work, to be ready for
emergency call whenever necessary.
