I was looking though an old Sumo World, and came across an article that
referenced the gyoji-beya.  Apparently it shut down in 1973 for financial
reasons, and the gyoji were dispersed to the different heyas.  

Does anyone have any info on this beya?  I assume it was the home for all
gyoji, but how did it operate?  
Did it have an oyakata?  Was there much controversy as to the "distribution"
of the different ranked gyoji to the heyas when the gyoji heya folded?  I
could certainly see some political posturing to get the most prestigious
gyoji. 
How about accusations of favoritism to the hosting heya?
