Kintaro's Slovenian and Croatian Jungyo

Guten Morgen, Dobro Jutro, Goedemorgen, God Morgon, Hyvää huomenta, Ohaiyo
Gozaimasu,

Kintaro was reflecting this morning on the historic 1997 Hatsu basho. Why
is it historic, you ask? It was the first basho with 5 foreign born
rikishi in Makuuchi, and all five earned kachi-koshi! Can you remember who
they were? Well, if you want to relive that momentous basho, you can see
the Creative Cleveland Ozeki Obana's (try saying that 5 times quickly)
tribute to the event. It's one of my favorites. You can see it at:

Just an update on Woodstock-beya activities. Kintaro will dine tomorrow
evening with the Canadian Sekiwake Kofuji who is visiting Atlanta for some
keiko with the Woodstock-beya rikishi. Kofuji-zeki is celebrating his
Natsu Basho Jun-yusho. (Note: Momotaro will probably not participate in
tomorrow's keiko, as he will be recovering from a caning I intend to
deliver in a few minutes.)

Kintaro is also preparing for his Croatian and Slovenian Jungyo. He leaves
the Woodstock-beya on Friday to head to Frankfurt (famous for their
delicious hot dogs). He will fly into Zagreb and head directly for the
therapeutic waters of the Terme Catez hotel Toplice. Ahhhh.... If that
doesn't sooth a weary traveler, nothing will. Oh! (Oops, excuse me, my
overactive mind started to suggest alternatives.) Kintaro will spend 10
days in beautiful Slovenia. The only scheduled Dohyo-iri will be at a
vineyard overlooking the town of Krsko. It will be shown on Euro sport
next month. Kintaro will celebrate Slovenian Independence Day and the US
Independence Day during this Jungyo. (For those of you who are not up on
your history -- American Independence Day celebrates the eradication of
cricket, football hooligans, and bad cuisine from the original 13 states of
the USA.)

Na zdravje! Zxivjeli! U zdravlje! Prost!
