New Nihon Sumo Kyokai limit on foreigners
Hi all:
When I was in Japan for Natsu-basho, I realized that a new limit on foreign rikishi is in place now, or has become active.
Currently there are 40 foreign rikishi in Ozumo and therefore the Kyokai will not accept foreign newcomers anymore.
The first I heard of this was actually when I went to practice to Wakamatsu-beya and Asasekiryu (a Mongolian rikishi, Asashoryuâ^À^Ùs stable mate) told me about it, I thought it was some misinterpretation. But then a couple of other insiders also told me the same thing, so apparently that is the case.
In the meantime, Iâ^À^Ùm getting my shin-deshi ready to join Ozumo later on this year, which complicates things for us substantially, since heâ^À^Ùs not Japanese. Thisâ^À^Ùll be a big problem, it seems.
Anyhow, I will finish a picture report from Wakamatsu-beya etc. soon and post it, some interesting picturesâ^À¦
Later,
