Just as an aside, just having an agent or agency representing him doesn't
cut it. Any agent representing an NFL player (or prospective NFL player)
must be approved and certified by the NFL Players Association. The
requirements of certification include a four-year degree from an accredited
college/university; mandatory attendance at a 2-day seminar for contract
advisors (next held January 2002 in Washington, DC); successful completion
of written proctored examination with a scaled score of 70 or better. The
examination covers the Salary Cap, Player Benefits, the agent regulations,
the NFL drug policies, and other issues relevant to player representation.

Once an agent is certified, there are certain requirements he must continue
to meet, and agents can be and have been de-certified. There are hefty
fines for a team negotiating with a non-certified agent.

I'd be shocked if his "talento" agent in Japan is certified with the NFLPA.

The Agents section of the NFLPA's web site is at
