The other day, while watching an old 'Buffy' that I had saved to videotape,
and quick zipping through the commercials, one caught my eye that I had
never seen before, or since. It starred KONISHKI. It was one of those 'VISA
because they don't take American Express' commercials that are so common on
U.S. tv. It showed KONISHKI in Hawaii taking a tour of various restaurants.
At each place he was shown sitting at a table filled with food. One scene
showed him leaving an all-you-can-eat buffet restaurant, and the open sign
in the window being flipped to closed as he left. Surprisingly (to me at
least) the commercial began by identifying him by his talento name, and as
an Hawaiian-born Sumo champion.
To me, the strangest part of the commercial was the shirt that KONISHKI was
wearing. It was dark blue with a giant yellow lightening bolt on the front.
It made him look like a giant, walking battery.
