Wakanozan's rise continues and maybe he becomes Soumikatai's (his heya
mate) successor and brings now again the Emperor's Cup to Vienna-beya.
Not only Wakano-zeki's good 23 points made this possible but also
Toninohana's relatively low score of 17.
Gochisozan's 25 were the best result today. Second with 23 were Heiyu,
Gaijingai, Kazetoshi and Wakanozan. There were only six double-digits
today although seven of the ten "meatgrinders" (M1-M5) lost. Obviously
the winning Sekiwake and Komusubi prevented higher results.
Again, it doesn't look too good for our Yokozuna: both are in make-
koshi land, and one of them even in double-digit mk with eleven points
between him and the kk-line.
Tamanaogijima
The Daily Stat: Tamanoshima, at 9-3 now still with (theoretical) yusho
chances, has been selected by only 30 per cent of the players. He was
one of the typical gap fillers as he was selected only for 2pts and
1pt slots. The tougher opponents in the remaining three days of the
tournament will perhaps cause some "extra" points for his selectors.
