A bit of sumo related news

It's been really quiet between bashos as far as sumo
news is concerned but I managed to find a couple of 
news items:

It's  reported that Sanyaku rank yobidashi Chohachi's
house has been broken into by four or five
non-Japanese speaking robbers on October 2.

According to Police, the wife of Kenji Kawamura, 64,
had suffered a minor injury when the robbers tied her
up and took about 800,000 Yen from home. She was alone
at home as Chohachi was away on Jyungyo.

A popular and  crowd favorite,  Tomonohana, 36, of
Tatsunami Beya is facing the biggest challenge of his
sumo career.  A "small soldier" at 176 cm tall and 110
kg,  Tomonohana finished with six wins and nine losses
at Juryo East 11 in the Aki Basho but it appears he
managed to barely hang onto Juryo rank next basho,
guessing from the number of rikishis already promoted
to Juryo from Makushita for the Kyushu Basho.

"I've never been lucky on Banzuke ranking but this
time around I may have been a bit lucky," said
Tomonohana, affectionately known as  "Sensei" by sumo
fans. 

He made his dohyo debut at Makushita Tsukedashi in the
1992 Haru Basho after graduating from Nihon University
("Nichi-Dai") and accepted a teaching position at a
high school in Yamaguchi Prefecture.
  
Then he quickly progressed to Komusubi in eleven
bashos but since then he has been battling one injury
after another as he has never been able to recover
from his knee injuries.    His only wish was to get up
on the dohyo without any injury but he suffered a new
injury to his left foot on the Senshuraku last basho. 
       

"I will have no regret if I have a bad record at a
basho after training hard and well prepared, but
basically it's been just a series of treatment to my
injury.  Sometime I feel I have had enough and want to
quit," said Tomonohana somehow trying to show his best
at the Kyushu where he is originally from.
