[ML etiquette] pleae no attachments or html & Phantom Menacesoccur

With the recent debacle on html viruses, the recent attachment sent by
Russel and the Phantom Menace(TM) of past posts re-emerging out of the ether
just a few simple and timely requests.

(1) Please no attachments. If you have a program or a picture that you
would like to share with the ML please post on a webpage and then list the
url for that webpage. If you don't have a homepage yourself check out one
of the many free homepage offers out there or post a request to the list and
I'm sure someone will step forward with a place for you to post it.

(2) Please no html. Other than the virus issue, for people receiving the
digest of this ML and for people with text only based mail readers HTML adds
unneeded volume and format wise comes out as a mess in text. For most mail
readers with both options there will be an option in the preferences to send
mail only in text form, check it out :-).

These two things are fairly standard ML etiquette for most ML's and help
everybody to get uncluttered and uninfected e-mail.

Not trying to barbecue you Russel, as everybody makes the odd mistake (I
know I've made a few in posting to this list, even though I originated it)
and everybody should be allowed the odd slip until they are informed to the
contrary.

On the Phantom Menaces (TM) every so often there is a glitch in the software
that runs these type of automated servers (usually with something going
wrong with the dates and something from January 3rd being automatically
archived away in the wrong place and ending up being sent on say April 3rd).
It happens, and has happened every so often over the 7 years of this ML. If
it appears to be odd or old news check the header info and use the delete
key or read it and get a nostalgic kick, no need to barbecue each other.

Yoroshiku, Pete.
