[sumo dictionary] Techniques- Nodo-wa/Harite
A look at two of the roughest techniques in sumo.
nodo-wa- pushing against an opponents throat with the hand in a hazu-like
form.
harite- slapping an opponent with the open hand. It is regularly used to
disorient the opponent at tachiai so that a yotsu-zumo rikishi can get his
favored grip. Nowadays it's also not uncommon to see rikishi use harite as
if trying to KO their opponent.
