The Futagoyama Beya rikishis have resumed their
training for Hatsu Basho (starting on January 9 at
Ryogoku Kokugikan) on January 2 after the New Year
holidays.    

Takanonami, who is trying to get back to ozeki, had 22
training matches. Then Wakanohana, who missed the last
basho, followed him with 14 training sessions with
Makushita rikishis. 

Wakanohana was moving well but Takanonami did not look
well, still hampered by gout.  However Futagoyama
oyakata commented, "Takanonami is doing normally at
this point.  There is nothing to worry about.  As for
Wakanohana, we will make a decision one way or another
by the "Torikumi Hensei" (Hatsu Basho Match Arranging)
meeting on January 7."     

Yokozuna Takanohana only loosened up by doing light
exercises as he is still bothered by his left foot.
