I just thought of something that might add an interesting perspective to
this conversation and what is posted above. Has anyone thought of asking
current or former rikishis about their views on our discusions and how they
think the sport of sumo and themselves as atheletes fit in the whole
spectrum. I would really appreciate it if anyone who is fortunate to have
contact with the rikishis and speak their language to ask them this
question. I think it would also be interesting to compare answers from
foreign rikishis with their native counterparts.
Just an idea.
