RE: Comparing sumo with American sports

I don't know, this comparsion thread smacks of comparing Japanese VS 
Americans, such that they put there pants on the same way, one leg at a 
time, but if you actually live in both cultures, you discover that there are 
some similarities but there are lots of differences too, which I think you 
can then use as a yardstick to their different sports.  I will never forget 
when first came to Japan, did the homestay and everything, I felt like I was 
in Mars, no kidding.  Even when I returned to the USA, there was a lingering 
mist in my mind from that first visit.  Now I've been here so long it is 
home, but still I see some things similar to sumo and American sports, 
training, hard work, blood, sweat and tears, but there is a mystic to sumo 
that might be there for me cause I am not Japanese.  Whatever.
