Rikishis are notoriously superstitious lot so if he
wins, he wants to keep wearing it, if not more or less
forget about it.

They may not wear pink because they are tickled by it
(with a possible exception of often maligned
Kotonowaka) but sometimes when they are on a losing
streak they may try anything that might work and if
they win, they will keep doing it.

I heard of a rikishi who even went to washroom exactly
the same time every day during his winning streak. I
guess he and his tsukebito were more or less when he
finally lost after several days...
