Miyabiyama recovery and other news

Miyabiyama is kyujo for the winter jungyo tour, but resumed basic training
at Musashigawa beya - his belly heavily taped.

He broke two ribs during morning practice on day 11 of the Kyushu basho -
and still lost only one of the remaining bouts. Getting pain killer
injections and going on, as top maegashira aiming for the sanyaku rank in
his reach.

He already has prepared a new version of his name signature - and at last:
for his first appearance as a new sanyaku (most likely) he has his hair
ready to display his first oicho.


Takanonami was mentioned recently in the Nikkan sports: to prepare for
comeback, putting away his pride and going to learn from his junior, Ozeki
Chiyotaikai. They did training together during the winter jungyo,
Takanonami "borrowing the chest" (mune o kariru) of Chiyotaikai.
Till banzuke day Takanonami is still ozeki though.

And Akebono has got himself a private masseur to get fit.


One new old picture of Mainoumi: Nov. 20th 1991 against Akebono.
Said to show also mitokorozeme (3-point attack) - but that was not his
famous win by mitokorozeme. I remember that well, it was quite a bit later.

They say it looks possible he'd become a "talento" like his friend
