I bet you can tell English isn't my native language :-).
Ichidai-toshiyori as an independent kabu is tied to the man who possesses
it. Therefore Takatoriki - or whoever will succeed Taiho as a shisho, if
anyone - needs a kabu of his own.
The successor will inherit the heya and its rikishis but heya's name will
change to that of the successor's myoseki. Taiho-beya will vanish in name
only. If, say, Takatoriki, becomes, say, Otowayama Oyakata, and succeeds
Taiho, his father-in-law's Taiho-beya will become Otowayama-beya. (On a
somewhat unrelated note I seem to recall that this particular kabu is
reserved for Takanonami and currently on loan by Wakashoyo.)
Well, that's how I've understood ichidai-toshiyori. One better take my
impression with a Mitoizumi handful of salt, though... I hope someone with
less dubious record will confirm my impression on the subject :-).
